When choosing a Wholecloth Heirloom quilt there are many variables to consider. We have
laid out each choice in a way that makes this a simple and enjoyable process. Let us know if you
have any additional questions. We have also added a detailed Quilt Construction link if you are
interested in the details of how these beautiful quilts are made.
The first choice for you to make, after deciding where (or to whom) the quilt will go, is what
design do you like. If you have a specific size quilt in mind, go straight to the links on the
left, click the size of your choice, and peruse the designs. If you are open to different sizes
or types of quilts (bed or wall-hanging), browse each category. Once you have selected the
size and design, the next step is to choose your fabric and thread options.
We have selected top quality, 100% cotton fabrics in white, light natural, and cream. While
choosing the color, keep in mind that this will dominate the flavor of the quilt. White
fabric tends to absorb the colors of the thread, creating a more subtle effect on a bright
background while the light natural and cream fabrics allow the thread colors to stand out
more with a more neutral background. Compare the colors of the fabric in the photos to
decide your favorite choice.
Once the fabric color is chosen, the next step is the thread. Our long staple, 100% cotton
thread comes in truly elegant colors. While there are endless numbers of thread and fabric
combinations, not all of them work well together. After extensive testing of a large variety
of thread and fabric combinations, we created a selection that we feel best compliments
our designs. Explore our sample photos and select the combination that suits your needs.
Keep in mind that while the thread may look extremely bold on the spool, it is stitched in
single lines and will appear more subdued on the actual quilt.
